Dr Ailish Malone (previously McDermott) is a Lecturer in Physiotherapy at RCSI, where she researches and teaches in the areas of neurology, rehabilitation, movement analysis and evidence-based practice.
Ailish worked clinically at Beaumont Hospital from 2002 to 2012, where she was senior physiotherapist in the national neurosurgical centre working with people after brain and spine surgery. She subsequently worked at the Central Remedial Clinic, Dublin, as clinical specialist in gait and movement analysis for people with neurological conditions and disability.
Ailish’s research areas of interest are clinical neuroscience, rehabilitation of neurological conditions in adults and children, rehabilitation after serious illness, living with disability, movement analysis, and implementation of research evidence in clinical practice.
She has a BSc in Physiotherapy (First Class Hons) from UCD (2002), a PhD from RCSI (2012) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Health Professions Education (RCSI, 2020).
